Tommy Fury has come under fresh criticism after appearing to shove a fellow runner in the closing stages of the Great North Run, with the man involved accusing the boxer of showing a lack of respect for his competitors.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old reality TV personality and professional fighter was one of nearly 60,000 participants in Sunday\u2019s half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields. <\/p>\n

Fury, who has become known for his dramatic sprint finishes, was filmed weaving through the crowds near the finish line before placing a hand on another runner\u2019s shoulder and forcing his way past on the final bend.<\/p>\n

The runner in question, plumber Diarmaid Warner, 38, has now spoken publicly about the incident. <\/p>\n

Warner, from Dumbarton, was raising money for muscular dystrophy research and said he had been left disappointed by Fury\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you get to the end you think the finish line is straight in front of you,\u201d Warner told The Sun.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s only at the last few metres you realise you\u2019ve got one more right turn to make.<\/p>\n

“It was as I was going around it that I felt this hand on my shoulder which pushed me to the side for him to run through.<\/p>\n

“I was a bit upset and thought that\u2019s not on \u2013 it\u2019s not really race etiquette.\u201d<\/p>\n

The father of two said he quickly realised who had barged past him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told my wife, you\u2019ll never guess what \u2013 Tommy Fury\u2019s pushed me out of the way,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Warner\u2019s mother Elaine later joined the conversation, describing her son as \u201cthe real hero\u201d and noting he had actually crossed the finish line 12 minutes ahead of Fury. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur champion,\u201d she wrote on Facebook.<\/p>\n

Taking the episode in good spirits, Warner has even issued a tongue-in-cheek challenge to the former Love Island contestant.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot a boxing match, unless he has one hand tied behind his back,\u201d he joked, \u201cbut I\u2019d happily take him on in a running race.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fury has yet to address the controversy, but it is not the first time his behaviour in endurance events has been questioned. <\/p>\n

In January, footage from a 10k at Tatton Park showed him nearly colliding with an elderly runner as he launched into another late sprint.<\/p>\n

More recently, he faced scrutiny during a triathlon in the French Riviera, with data suggesting he did not complete the full cycling stage.<\/p>\n

Organisers later clarified that road closures forced a number of amateurs, including Fury, to abandon part of the course.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Great North Run, a 13.1-mile race that draws around 200,000 spectators, also made headlines for a blunder on the official medals and T-shirts, which mistakenly showed the River Wear in Sunderland instead of the Tyne in Newcastle. <\/p>\n

Organisers later issued an apology with the punning line \u201cWear sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Fury\u2019s last-minute charge has ensured the spotlight remains on him.<\/p>\n

Warner, however, insists the principle is simple: \u201cI started with thousands of people who were slower than me but you just weave your way around them.
