Manchester City have agreed a \u201cbrilliant swap\u201d after replacing Ederson with Gianluigi Donnarumma.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Man City confirmed the signing of Donnarumma<\/a>\u00a0on 2 September, having agreed a \u00a326million deal with PSG<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Pep Guardiola<\/a> was able to add the 26-year-old to his goalkeeping options after Ederson finalised a move to Fenerbahce<\/a>, with the Turkish club paying around \u00a312million. <\/p>\n Football Insider revealed on 2 September Donnarumma will replace James Trafford as first-choice goalkeeper<\/a> following his arrival at the Etihad Stadium. <\/p>\n Trafford<\/a>\u00a0started for\u00a0Man City<\/a>\u00a0in their first three\u00a0Premier League<\/a>\u00a0games of the new campaign, having rejoined the club from Burnley<\/a> in July.\u00a0<\/p>\n This article contains exclusive comment from\u00a0Stefan Borson<\/a>, a former financial adviser to\u00a0Man City. <\/p>\n Donnarumma<\/a>, who previously spent four years with PSG, has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad. <\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Ederson<\/a> leaves Man City eight years after joining the club from Benfica.\u00a0<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: \u201cI think Donnarumma\u2019s wages are enormous. <\/p>\n \u201cBut then again, Ederson\u2019s wages were pretty big as well, so I don\u2019t think that\u2019s a particular change. <\/p>\n \u201cIf you would have said to City fans at the end of last season, Ederson\u2019s time is over and City are going to sign Donnarumma, aside from the question marks over style, I think everybody would have said \u2018Wow, that\u2019s a brilliant swap\u2019 and take that all day long. <\/p>\n \u201cI think most people would say he\u2019s in the top three goalkeepers in the world. He\u2019s won everything and is a big character. Obviously, it\u2019s key that he can be motivated, he\u2019s an amazing age for a goalkeeper if it works. <\/p>\n \u201cIf it works, he can be at City for 10 years, so I think overall the deal makes a lot of sense if the footballing side of stuff can be fixed. <\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s so much flux at City anyway in terms of how they play. You can just stick this one into the mix of problems they\u2019ve got to solve, which might be a bad thing, of course, because it may be that it\u2019s just too many problems. <\/p>\n \u201cI think we will see pretty quickly this season.
