\n Iain Westerman\u00a0lives in a block of six flats at Woodsley Fold, in Thornton, and has struggled to get a consistent internet connection working from home for more than five years.\n<\/p>\n

\n Although Mr Westerman owns his flat, the building is managed by Inspired Property Management (IPM) Ltd.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Westerman said: \u201cMy order for a fibre installing was cancelled a second\u00a0time by the BRSK team.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI called a member of the support team there who responded that they cancelled the order because \u2018there are no plans to install fibre in your area\u2019.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019m pretty frustrated about the situation, having thought it was being resolved. They even brought in an engineer to fit wires and boxes at the building.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI\u2019ve been trying to get some answers,\u201d he added. \u201cJust a clarification on what has happened.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThey were carrying out work in the flats, and then it stopped all of a sudden.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cIt seemed encouraging, but then I received an email saying we\u2019re not going to install the fibre broadband anymore.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe physical infrastructure to do it is not there.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI\u2019ve been working from home in this job for five-and-a-half years, and I\u2019m forced to use my phone as a hotspot.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n A spokesperson for IPM Limited said: \u201cWe have communicated with a leaseholder at the Grace development previously regarding their request to change their broadband supplier.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cA supplier contractor attended to prepare a quote, which they have confirmed would involve fitting surface-mounted cables throughout the entirety of the block across the communal hallways and stairwells to serve this one apartment.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe communal areas are shared, and such works require consent from the freeholder.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cOnce fitted, the broadband supplier would not provide any ongoing maintenance or repairs, and such costs could not be collected nor paid for.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was explained in detail to the lessee and the contractor in detail.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cTherefore IPM, as the managing agent referred this to the freeholder who asked for the leaseholder and broadband supplier to make contact with them directly.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWe duly provided the contact details to the leaseholder and contractor to reach out to the freeholder to discuss consent.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n A spokesperson for BRSK said: \u201cIt appears that there is a network rollout issue affecting the address.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cOnce this has been resolved, we will reach out with the confirmed installation date.\n<\/p>\n
