\n\tAs he reflects on his life and career, Charlie Sheen<\/a> says nothing\u2019s off limits \u2014 and he proves it in his new Netflix documentary \u201caka Charlie Sheen<\/a>.\u201d The two-part program, which premieres Sept. 10 on Netflix, follows the actor has he dissects some of his darkest moments as an addict.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe stuff that I plan on sharing, I had made a sacred vow years ago to only reveal to a therapist,\u201d he says. \u201cI think there\u2019s so many stories and so many ingrained images in people\u2019s minds about the concept of me. It\u2019s not even like think of me as a person. They think of me as a as a concept or a specific moment in time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSome of those low points you already know \u2014 Sheen\u2019s 2011 firing from \u201cTwo and a Half Men\u201d came as part of a very public (\u201ctiger blood,\u201d \u201cwinning\u201d) meltdown that\u2019s now cemented as part of his lore, for example.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut in recent years, Sheen seems to have cleaned up his act. He tells the \u201caka Charlie Sheen\u201d documentarians that he\u2019s seven years sober \u2014 and he has a lot to atone for. Something the two-part program doesn\u2019t mention is how he has already made amends with \u201cTwo and a Half Men\u201d exec producer Chuck Lorre, and even appeared last year in Lorre\u2019s recent comedy \u201cBookie.\u201d He also appears to have a cordial relationship with ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, both of whom appear in the doc (directed by Andrew Renzi).<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso seen in \u201caka Charlie Sheen\u201d are brother Ramon Estevez, childhood friends Sean Penn and Tony Todd, former drug dealer Marco, co-stars Jon Cryer and Chris Tucker, and famed \u201cHollywood Madam\u201d Heidi Fleiss.<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen is also releasing the memoir \u201cThe Book of Sheen,\u201d <\/a>which hit shelves Tuesday. Here are a few things we learned from \u201caka Charlie Sheen\u201d:<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is the first time Sheen is speaking publicly about having sex with men<\/a>, which he describes as discovering \u201cthe other side of the menu.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s fucking liberating,\u201d he says. \u201cA train didn\u2019t come through the side of the restaurant, a fucking piano didn\u2019t fall out of the sky. No one ran into the room and shot me. It\u2019s uncharted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen has no regrets about that either. \u201cSo what? Some of it was weird. A lot of it was fucking fun, and life goes on,\u201d he says. \u201cLook at the state of the fucking world. Look at the unflushed fucking toilet that we live in today and where we\u2019re headed. This, the other side of that menu really fucking matters? If someone doesn\u2019t want to hire me because \u2018he did all that shit\u2019? Whatever, didn\u2019t want to work with you anyway. Now I want to nuke the other side of the menu? No, I don\u2019t. Because that wouldn\u2019t make any sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen\u2019s drug abuse got so bad that he had an 18-hour nosebleed, and once needed to stick a cube of ice up his butt to shoot a scene.<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen recalls an 18-hour nosebleed from one cocaine bender that caused a problem when shooting a scene. \u201cI got the director, Brett Ratner, to agree to make that shot go away forever,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd he did, because we\u2019ve never seen it right. And that\u2019s when it starts to get that the priorities couldn\u2019t be more wonky. I was taking jobs to just fuel the habits.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFor the film \u201cFree Money,\u201d Sheen said the director noticed that he looked like he was falling asleep on camera. So Sheen asked for a glass of ice.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere was a little bathroom, and I went in there, and I took an ice cube, and I shoved it up my butt,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019ve never done that before, and, man, I was wide awake just enough to get back on the mark and finish the bucket scene with an ice cube in my ass.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen thoroughly denies and blasts allegations by Corey Feldman that Sheen sexually assaulted Corey Haim.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAbsolutely fucking bullshit,\u201d Sheen says. \u201cI should have taken legal action against Feldman. But I didn\u2019t feel like giving that clown that much more credit. We were friends back in a day or so I thought. It\u2019s a piece of vile fiction. The guy\u2019s mom came out and said this is impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen says he has always been upfront about his HIV status with partners, and that he paid those partners to keep his diagnosis secret.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was wearing condoms, and I was, by then, completely undetectable,\u201d he says. \u201cThey\u2019d be going into the drawers, my bathroom, photographing my meds. Then I\u2019d stop seeing them and that\u2019s what would come out, the threat of \u2018we\u2019re going to expose your thing. I had to pay them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen said at the lowest number, it was $500,000 for a single person. \u201cBut you know what, within all the craziness, there\u2019s only one person in the entire fucking mix that still has this thing, that has it, period, and that\u2019s this guy,\u201d he says. \u201cNobody got this from me. Period, the end, full stop, nobody did so.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA drunk Charlie Sheen once took the controls of a jetliner, unbeknownst to the 300 or so passengers.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201caka Charlie Sheen\u201d doc opens with a harrowing tale, as Sheen recounts being on honeymoon with his first wife, Donna Peele. Sheen and Peele were on a plane and tensions were already high between the two \u2014 while Sheen started drinking heavily in his seat. The plane navigator spots Sheen and invites him to the cockpit, where the captain asks for a photo.<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen asked the pilot if he could wear his uniform and sit in his seat. The pilot obliges \u2014 and then the co-pilot flips off the autopilot function. Sheen, completely wasted, is now flying the plane.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m there drunk, close to 300 people asleep behind me, an angry bride 20 feet behind me, and I start guiding this plane,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd then they saw that maybe this might get away from them.\u201d The co-pilot quickly turned the autopilot back on.<\/p>\n

\n\tCharlie Sheen was offered the lead role in \u201cThe Karate Kid,\u201d but his father convinced him to turn it down.<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen had already booked a low-budget film, \u201cGrizzly II,\u201d which also starred then-unknowns George Clooney and Laura Dern. But then Sheen was offered the lead role in \u201cThe Karate Kid,\u201d which required him to immediately start karate training. He couldn\u2019t because of \u201cGrizzly II,\u201d and his father stressed that he couldn\u2019t quit that role.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI took it to my dad, and I said, \u2018I got this thing, and it\u2019s a life changing opportunity. They they want me in karate training tomorrow.\u2019 And he said, \u2018Well, there\u2019s a problem here. You gave this other company your word. I said, \u2018Yeah, but it\u2019s forgettable, and it\u2019s like eight lines.\u2019 He says, \u2018None of that matters. You gave him your word. Your word in this business is going to carry you a lot further than one big movie.\u2019 So that that went away.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Karate Kid\u201d went to Ralph Macchio, and made him a star. \u201cI was pissed,\u201d Sheen says. \u201cI thought I was terribly misled.\u201d But in hindsight, Sheen notes that Macchio may have ultimately been limited in roles because he was so identified with that franchise. \u201cI don\u2019t want to say I dodged a bullet,\u201d he says. \u201cMaybe I dodged a back kick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHeidi Fleiss is still not happy that Sheen testified against her in the \u201cHollywood Madam\u201d trial.<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen\u2019s name was at the forefront of Fleiss\u2019 arrest for running a prostitution ring because he used traveler\u2019s checks for some services, rather than cash. \u201cOtherwise it never would have come out,\u201d she says. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t have said anything. I\u2019ve never said anything about anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut Sheen says the U.S. attorney threatened him with a \u201cpandering\u201d charge for sharing the women with friends, which would have meant three to five years I jail. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be a rat, but there was really no other way out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFleiss disagrees. \u201cRobert Mitchum, he was arrested for marijuana. They said, \u2018tell us your dealer.\u2019 And he said, \u2018charge me the crime.\u2019 Charlie should have said, \u2018charge me with the crime,\u2019\u201d she says. \u201cHe\u2019s a crybaby rich boy. He\u2019s a rich kid from Malibu. They\u2019re not gonna do shit to him. He\u2019s Charlie Sheen. He was at his peak, then they\u2019re not gonna do anything to him. Are you kidding me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt was Guns n\u2019 Roses guitarist Slash who convinced Sheen to hit rehab after one major bender.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 1998, Sheen had a stroke after an overdose, but then quickly left rehab. At that point, his father, Martin, asked California police to make an arrest to help him overcome his addiction. \u201cI had a huge resentment about it, and I said, \u2018just give me a little bit of space and mind your own fucking business. I can get a handle on this.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tUltimately, Sheen was considering fleeing the country when he stopped at Slash\u2019s house. \u201cHe said, \u2018Dude, I don\u2019t know that I\u2019ve seen anyone before in this kind of shape,\u2019\u201d Sheen recalls. \u201cThis is Slash, right? GNR, rock God, the life he\u2019s led. And he said, \u2018No, dude, you\u2019re out of options. You got to get to rehab. You got to save yourself, man.\u2019 And coming from him the way he presented, it was like, whoa. Message delivered.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen\u2019s drug dealer and friend Marco helped wean him off crack<\/a> by reducing its potency over time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI just became very fond of him,\u201d Marco says. \u201cDamn, that\u2019s my bro, right there. I can\u2019t let that dude die. He\u2019s too fucking cool. His drug counselor at the time told me, is there any way that you can make it less potent for him? And I told him I\u2019ll try. So, little by little, I started to reduce the amount of cocaine that I was using to cook the crack. It looked exactly the same, but it was just less potent. It took about a good year and a half, but that\u2019s why he got sober. He just got tired of smoking about crack, which he thought was good crack. He just wanted to stop doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSays Sheen: \u201cThey were trying to get me off of crack by making weaker crack. I was quite impressed when I found out later, I didn\u2019t know when it was going on. Talk about being forced to think so far out the box that you land on that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSheen\u2019s father, Martin Sheen, and brother Emilio Estevez declined to participate in \u201caka Charlie Sheen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI hope he sees some of this as the love letter to him that it is,\u201d Sheen says in describing some of his childhood moments with Martin Sheen \u2014 including how he helped nurse his father back to health after he had a heart attack in the Philippines while filming \u201cApocalypse Now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEmilio and dad, they fully support me,\u201d Sheen says. \u201cThey\u2019re rooting for me in ways you can\u2019t even imagine. But I can\u2019t expect people to revisit all the drug abuse and all the shitty choices that hurt the people I love\u2026 I completely understand why they chose not to [participate in the doc].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTwo and a Half Men\u201d star Jon Cryer is still a bit ambivalent<\/a> about being a part of this documentary.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI worked with Charlie Sheen for eight years,\u201d Cryer says. \u201cAnd if you wonder what it\u2019s like to work with Charlie Sheen for eight years, when I started, I had hair. I had some trepidation about participating in this, partially because part of the cycle of Charlie Sheen\u2019s life has been that he messes up terribly, he hits rock bottom, and then he gets things he gets things going again. And he brings a lot of positivity in his life, and that\u2019s when he burns himself out again. He just can\u2019t help but set that house on fire, and I didn\u2019t want to be a part of that cycle. I\u2019m not here to build him up and I\u2019m not here to tear him down.
