{"id":127933,"date":"2025-09-10T16:16:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T16:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/127933\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T16:16:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T16:16:09","slug":"vuelta-a-espana-stage-17-giulio-pellizzari-wins-atop-alto-de-el-morredero-for-first-pro-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/127933\/","title":{"rendered":"Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a stage 17: Giulio Pellizzari wins atop Alto de El Morredero for first pro victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"32b35131-ec4d-471b-9f6f-6d362bccb993\">Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) won stage 17 of the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/vuelta-a-espana\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/vuelta-a-espana\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a<\/a> on the fire-scorched and wind-exposed slopes of the Alto de El Morredero climb after Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) opted to ride a defensive race and control key rival Jo\u00e3o Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG).<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old Pellizzari took his first professional victory and extended his lead in the best young rider&#8217;s white jersey on the USA&#8217;s Matthew Riccitello (Israel-Premier Tech).<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"32b35131-ec4d-471b-9f6f-6d362bccb993-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling) was part of the GC selection on the steep slopes of the climb and then kicked away to finish 16 seconds down on Pellizzari. Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) was third just behind Pidcock, with Vingegaard fourth, finishing two seconds ahead of Almeida.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Vingegaard now leads Almeida by 50 seconds before Thursday&#8217;s vital 27.2km time trial around Valladolid.
