Major supermarket Aldi has revealed plans to close all its UK stores for three days over the festive period, later this year.<\/p>\n
The move has been announced as a way to provide the supermarket’s colleagues with a chance to spend part of the Christmas<\/a> break with their families.<\/p>\n The supermarket has revealed it will be closing it doors both on Christmas day, December 25, and Boxing Day<\/a>, December 26, the Mirror reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n An Aldi<\/a> spokesperson also confirmed shops would resume trading on Saturday, December 27.<\/p>\n For the best ideas on days out, shopping and parenting issues, get the Manchester Family newsletter here<\/a><\/p>\n Aldi will then close on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, before reopening once again on Friday, January 2, 2026.<\/p>\n Rebecca Heley, communications director at Aldi UK, said: “Christmas is a special time, and we want to ensure all of our colleagues have the opportunity to relax and enjoy it with their loved ones. That\u2019s why all Aldi stores will be closed on Boxing Day this year.”<\/p>\n She added: “We know how hard colleagues work to deliver an amazing Christmas for our customers, and this is one small way of saying thank you.”<\/p>\n The update comes after other retailers have announced also announced plans to close for three days over the Christmas period.<\/p>\n Home Bargains recently announced<\/a> plans to close over Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day this year.<\/p>\n A Home Bargains<\/a> spokesperson commented: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment. As a family-run business, we understand the importance of spending time with family and friends, particularly over the holidays.”<\/p>\n They added: “We\u2019re proud to give our teams additional time off to enjoy the festive season.”<\/p>\n B&M<\/a> also reportedly announced it would be closing locations on Christmas Day, before reopening on Boxing Day.<\/p>\n Aldi’s announcement also comes after the supermarket revealed they would be increasing its minimum hourly rate<\/a> for store assistants from the start of September to \u00a312.71, an increase from \u00a312.40 previously.<\/p>\n![\"Aldi](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_Low-Cost-Supermarkets-Aldi-Has-Become-The-Fastest-Growing-Supermarket-In-Britain.jpg\")
