Justin Hawkins<\/a> has compared Yungblud\u2019s Ozzy Osbourne tribute to \u2018what a male stripper would do\u2019 in what has become a somewhat vocal week for The Darkness brothers. <\/p>\n

The Darkness frontman<\/a>, 50, has joined his brother Dan Hawkins in blasting the MTV Video Music Awards tribute to the late Black Sabbath icon over the weekend, which saw Yungblud share the stage with Extreme\u2019s Nuno Bettencourt and Aerosmith\u2019s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his Justin Hawkins Rides Again podcast, he said: \u2018It\u2019s like you\u2019ve watched a movie about rock and metal, it\u2019s like what a male stripper would do.<\/p>\n

\u2018It doesn\u2019t ring authentic\u2026 It\u2019s rock n\u2019 roll, but not as we know it.<\/p>\n

\u2018It kind of has this Disney veneer over the top of it, like it\u2019s rock n\u2019 roll seen through an Instagram filter of some sort. That\u2019s what makes it galling I think.\u2019 <\/p>\n

The I Believe In A Thing Called Love rocker accused the 28-year-old musician of \u2018positioning himself as a natural heir to the Ozzy legacy\u2019 without having a connection to \u2018the really important stuff\u2019.<\/p>\n

He argued: \u2018I suppose one of the things that irks musicians of a certain age is to watch Ozzy invent heavy metal, then turn into this post MTV household name with the television series and his decades of being brilliant, and then you kind of think \u2018What the f*** does all those decades of having this incredible legacy got to do with Yungblud?\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

Yungblud opened the tribute to Osbourne \u2013 who died on July 22<\/a> \u2013 by singing Crazy Train and Changes with Nuno on guitar, and they were then joined by the Aerosmith duo for Mama, I\u2019m Coming Home.<\/p>\n

After the performance, the quartet embraced and Yungblud shouted: \u2018Ozzy forever man!\u2019<\/p>\n

Justin also drew unfavourable comparisons to 2003 Jack Black movie School of Rock. <\/p>\n

He added: \u2018All of this posturing is Jim Morrison meets the bloke from Stone Temple Pilots meets everybody else who\u2019s ever owned a pair of leather trousers.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s 101 School of Rock stuff, you know? It\u2019s the latest in a long line of \u2013 I\u2019m sorry to say it \u2013 posers\u2026\u2019 <\/p>\n

The One Way Ticket hitmaker, who called Yungblud\u2019s rendition of Changes \u2018painful\u2019, added: \u2018For seven minutes, the world is looking at rock and this is what we\u2019ve given them.\u2019 <\/p>\n

He asked: \u2018Where are the surviving members of Black Sabbath? Why aren\u2019t they there?\u2019<\/p>\n

Justin, who admitted he was quite jealous of Yungblud getting to sing with Steven Tyler, recorded the video for his YouTube in an effort to explain his brother\u2019s social media post slamming the performance. <\/p>\n

\u2018It was born of a triggered state. Maybe I will be able to contextualise that,\u2019 he said. <\/p>\n

Darkness guitarist Dan Hawkins fumed on Instagram earlier this week: \u2018Another nail in the coffin of rock n roll. Cynical, nauseating and more importantly; s***.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Seemingly referring to Yungblud, he added: \u2018Makes me sick how people jump on this s*** to further their own careers.\u2019<\/p>\n

He also captioned a clip from Mama, I\u2019m Coming Home: \u2018What a bunch of b***ends.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, fans were buzzing at the performance, which took place on Sunday night in New York. <\/p>\n

@bobbyseelye92 wrote on YouTube: \u2018Coolest thing to happen on VMAs in the last 25 years.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Now THAT was a proper tribute,\u2019 said @carminecaligiuri, while @patiymuchoflowcrew said: \u2018EVERYTHING about this performance, Steven\u2019s voice and spirit still giving it all, also YB pulling out all the cards, and the way you can see Steven getting emotional at the very end when he flicks his hand and covers his face with it.<\/p>\n

\u2018Respect, perfect tribute, perfect soulful, fiery performance all those involved!!\u2019<\/p>\n

Yungblud, who performed with Ozzy at\u00a0the iconic Back to the Beginning night<\/a>\u00a0just weeks before his death, took to social media before the VMAs with a black and white photo of them together.<\/p>\n

\u2018They\u2019ve \u2018asked me to pay tribute to you at the @vmas on Sunday night. I\u2019ll try my best to do you proud Oz. Tune in from up there. I love you forever,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

It was a relief for Aerosmith fans to see frontman Steven, 77, back in action, after a\u00a0vocal injury<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0which includes a fractured larynx and damaged vocal cords \u2013 marked the end of his touring days.<\/p>\n
