height: 20px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                    Record learning outcomes<\/p>\n<p>                                                            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/a285e213382b696aeaee6349d85b654f.jpeg\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nNorth Somerset MP Sadik Al-Hassan (parliament.uk)&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Labour MP Sadik Al-Hassan has approached NHS England about potentially removing the pharmacy contract from a branch of Jhoots Pharmacy in his constituency after a \u201ccompletely unacceptable\u201d closure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.p3pharmacy.co.uk\/interviews\/frankly-speaking-pharmacist-mp-sadik-al-hassan-answers-p3s-questions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The MP for North Somerset, himself a pharmacist,<\/a> posted a video on social media last night (September 10) outside a shuttered branch of Jhoots Pharmacy in Portishead, commenting that he was \u201cextremely disappointed\u201d the branch had \u201cclosed unexpectedly and without warning\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt\u2019s completely unacceptable for the pharmacy to close with no notice and cease operations,\u201d said Mr Al-Hassan, adding: \u201cThis is not the kind of work I\u2019d expect from a pharmacy who cares for its patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019ll be raising this with the CEO,\u201d he said as he shared an online form for his constituents to share their experiences of using Jhoots Pharmacy \u201chaving received many negative reports\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Mr Al-Hassan and Labour cabinet minister Heidi Alexander<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pharmacymagazine.co.uk\/news\/jhoots-pharmacy-ceo-to-meet-cabinet-minister-as-concerns-over-service-levels-mount\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> both raised serious concerns around the chain\u2019s long history of poor performance in August,<\/a> with both politicians requesting urgent meetings with Jhoots CEO Manjit Jhooty.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pharmacymagazine.co.uk\/news\/pressure-on-jhoots-increases-as-another-mp-demands-answers-about-poor-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Liberal Democrat MP for North Devon subsequently revealed<\/a> he had written to Manjit Jhooty regarding \u201ca series of unexpected closures, staffing issues and supply chain shortfalls\u201d at pharmacies in his constituency, including Barnstaple, Braunton and Combe Martin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A similar pattern has been repeated across England, with numerous local newspapers revealing how patients have been left without their medicines due to unexpected closures, while staff at some Jhoots branches report that they are still waiting for their July wages. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">On August 15, staff at a branch of Jhoots in Abingdon, Oxford, walked out after they were left without a manager for 10 weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pharmacymagazine.co.uk\/business-news\/im-still-owed-for-october-locums-claim-jhoots-is-behind-with-shift-payments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">And in February this year, P3pharmacy revealed that locum pharmacists<\/a> were awaiting long-overdue payments from the chain, including one who at that time had still not received payment for shifts completed in October.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Commenting under Mr Al-Hassan\u2019s Linkedin post, numerous pharmacists shared their own experiences with one writing: \u201cThe Jhoots at Locking Road, Weston Super Mare has been without a Pharmacist for 6+ weeks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Another wrote: \u201cThis practice appears widespread with this company and at the same time, staff have been withheld wages for months whilst the company continues buying further branches on credit.
