Benchmark equity indices opened Friday\u2019s session on a firm note, buoyed by optimism over a likely US Federal Reserve rate cut this month.<\/p>\n
At 9:16 am, the S&P BSE Sensex rose 211.13 points to 81,759.86, while the NSE Nifty50 gained 66.65 points to 25,072.15. Broader market indices also edged up as volatility cooled.<\/p>\n
Dr. VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services, said global cues remain supportive. \u201cGlobally stock markets are resilient, drawing strength from the new records being set by the mother market US. The US market is bullish on expectations of a rate cut from the Fed on September 17. A 25 bp cut is near consensus now, but experts differ on the number of cuts after September,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He flagged risks from rising US inflation, now at 2.9% in August, and weakening labour market data, but added that India\u2019s macroeconomic backdrop remains robust with financial stability, strong GDP prospects and falling inflation.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter September 22 the sharp rise in demand for consumer durables, particularly automobiles, will dominate economic and business news. This, in turn, will provide the positive sentimental support to the market. The joker in the pack will be the Trump tariffs,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Amruta Shinde, Technical & Derivative Analyst at Choice Equity Broking, advised a guarded approach. \u201cIn light of the heightened volatility and mixed global signals, traders are advised to adopt a cautious buy-on-dips strategy. Booking partial profits on rallies and maintaining tight trailing stop-losses is recommended to manage risk. Fresh long positions should only be considered if the Nifty sustains above the 25,160 level,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
On technicals, Anand James, Chief Market Strategist at Geojit Financial Services, highlighted potential resistance levels. \u201cA bit of resistance on test of 25,012 and the positive close are both in line with our yesterday\u2019s view. Upside objective remains at 25,400, but approach of 25,100 is likely to attract rejection trades. Inability to push beyond the same, or a direct fall below 24,700 could delay the maturity of upsides,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
With global markets focused on the Fed\u2019s September policy meeting and investors eyeing the impact of fresh US tariffs, Indian equities are expected to remain cautiously bullish in the near term.<\/p>\n
