Narinder Kaur has called out Jeremy Clarkson<\/a> for a social media post following the shooting of Charlie Kirk in the US. Kirk, a right-wing activist and close ally of President Trump, was killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University earlier this week. Clarkson wrote online after the news broke that he was fearful for his safety<\/a> due to his weekly columns for The Sunday Times and The Sun.<\/p>\n

Clarkson posted on X: \u201cFor the first time in my life, I\u2019m genuinely frightened about being a newspaper columnist.\u201d The killing of Kirk<\/a> has triggered widespread discussion on free speech<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kirk had come under fire for his social media comments about trans, gay, black and Jewish people and was criticised for his belief that women should \u201csubmit\u201d to their husbands. He also opposed gun control efforts. After his shooting, Trump said he was \u201cconcerned\u201d for his country due to a \u201cradical left group of lunatics\u201d.<\/p>\n

Kaur, a broadcaster and social commentator, took to social media to call out Clarkson for his post, which she claimed was a \u201cdespicable weaponising\u201d of Kirk\u2019s \u201ctragic\u201d murder. She wrote on X<\/a>: \u201cDo one. The lot of. Have some damn respect for his family at this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

She shared a video in which she referred to Clarkson\u2019s controversial column about Meghan Markle<\/a>. In 2022, the presenter wrote in a column for The Sun that he was dreaming of the day when Markle would be \u201cmade to parade naked through the streets\u201d while having excrement thrown at her.<\/p>\n

Kaur said that Clarkson\u2019s claims that he was fearful for his safety was \u201cstaggering hypocrisy\u201d. She said: \u201cThe utterly despicable weaponizing of the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk to suit your own narrative is the lowest of the low.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kaur continued on to say: \u201cHours after he sent that tweet, is parading at the NTAs, waltzing down the red carpet without a care in the world, happy as Larry. I didn\u2019t see fear, I didn\u2019t see scared, I saw him weaponizing the tragic death of a father and a husband.\u201d<\/p>\n

Celebrities from across the globe have weighed into the heated discussion about gun control and free speech following Kirk\u2019s death. Piers Morgan<\/a> called the shooting an \u201cappalling assault on free speech and democracy\u201d, adding: \u201cCharlie always welcomed debate, with anyone. This is disgusting, and heart-breaking.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Trump said of Kirk: “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris<\/a> shared a statement online on behalf of her and her husband, Dough Emhoff, writing: “Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family. Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.”<\/p>\n
