Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang said that F1 is in a \u201chealthy position from a media rights point of view but is looking at partnerships that extend beyond simply broadcasting races,\u201d according to Chris Medland of RACER. Chang said that the direction the U.S. media rights, which are up for renewal at the end of the year, might take is also something that is \u201cbeing looked at globally, as F1 attempts to engage its fan base away from race coverage.\u201d Sources said that Apple is in a \u201cstrong position<\/a> to take over from previous broadcaster ESPN.\u201d Chang said the ideal media partner is someone who can \u201chelp fans access your content beyond the race.\u201d Chang: \u201cIt is someone who can help fans access your content beyond the race. It is someone who can help your fans interact with even your sponsors. It\u2019s all of that.
