A man has been sentenced to 13 years behind bars after he was found guilty of multiple child sexual offences, including the rape of a child under the age of 13. Daniel Carter, 28, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court today, September 12 after being unanimously convicted by a jury on 10 charges.<\/a><\/p>\n These included rape, sexual assault, and exposure, all relating to the prolonged abuse of a young girl. The offences took place over a period of three years, beginning when the victim was just nine years old<\/a>. Carter’s trial, which lasted four days, concluded on July 10 with a unanimous verdict.<\/p>\n Cheshire Police launched their investigation in 2022 after the victim bravely made a disclosure, prompting officers to arrest<\/a> and charge Carter shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n In addition to the 13-year custodial sentence, Carter, of no fixed address but formerly of the Macclesfield area, was handed a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a 20-year restraining order against three witnesses. He will also be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.<\/p>\n Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Steph Darbyshire who led the investigation said: \u201cCarter\u2019s conviction is testament to the courage and bravery shown by the victim and their family throughout this investigation.<\/p>\n \u201cCarter is a depraved and gutless individual, who subjected his victim to a prolonged period of sexual abuse.<\/p>\n \u201cEven when faced with all the evidence against him, he refused to admit his guilt.
