Former BBC<\/a> star Nadiya Hussain is facing fierce backlash after appearing to use the shocking assassination of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk<\/a> to make a political point. The Great British Bake Off star sparked outrage just hours after the Turning Point USA founder was shot dead on stage<\/a> in Utah, posting a lengthy statement branding him an \u201cIslamophobe and bigot\u201d before questioning why the world reacts differently to white victims. Nadiya wrote: \u201cCharlie Kirk, a right wing political ‘activist’ was shot in the neck today and died. The Internet screams: ‘graphic,’ ‘unwatchable,’ ‘unimaginable terror.’<\/p>\n

For two years Gaza has lived through horrors that no words can hold. Children carrying other children in bloodied backpacks. Bodies torn apart in buildings, shreds hanging. Brains on the floor. Burns too horrific to imagine. Horror upon Horror. And this is what’s ‘too graphic’?\u201d She added: \u201cA man who was a vocal Islamophobe and bigot who glorified violence. He celebrated shootings, cheered on aggression, and thrived on spreading hate. His life was a platform for division<\/a> and fear.<\/p>\n

But here’s the question we can’t ignore: why is it that when white men die, the world mourns and when 20,000 children do, silence fills the streets?\u201d<\/p>\n

Her comments sparked fury on social media.<\/p>\n

Taking to X, GB News presenter Alex Armstrong: \u201cSACKED BBC<\/a> Star Nadiya Hussain has sparked outrage over her comments on the death of Charlie Kirk: ‘why is it that when white men die, the world mourns, and when 20,000 children do, silence fills the streets?’\u201d<\/p>\n

One social media user fumed: “I’m sorry but I think this is in really poor taste. I’m a heavy supporter of Palestine. I post daily. I don’t think anyone deserves to die. No matter their opinions, who they are or what they stand for.”<\/p>\n

Another remarked: “There are many people who have mourned for both, I am one of them. Show respect to the man who just died instead of using it as an opportunity to be divisive.”<\/p>\n

A third penned: “This is your response to a guy getting murdered on a college campus? Get a grip. You don’t have to agree with him, but you don’t murder somebody for sharing their opinions and engaging in debate. Gross.”<\/p>\n

Charlie, 31, was killed during his signature \u201cProve Me Wrong\u201d debate at Utah Valley University. Authorities confirmed the shooter was Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, who was captured after two days on the run.<\/p>\n

Nadiya has previously addressed her departure from the BBC<\/a> following her podcast appearance in July.<\/p>\n

She remarked: “To be fair, I\u2019m not comfortable in boxes anyway. I prefer a glass ceiling to smash through, thank you very much.<\/p>\n
