Several Loose Women stars were notably absent from the National Television Awards<\/a> ceremony earlier this week. The ITV show, which has been broadcasting since 1999, was unsuccessful in the daytime category.<\/p>\n

It was blown out the water by rival This Morning<\/a> once more. Viewers of the show will be aware that the programme’s future has been questioned following a string of financial cutbacks at the network.<\/p>\n

Alongside Lorraine, the number of Loose Women<\/a> episodes will see a substantial decrease from January. The ITV chat show has consistently showcased personalities including Coleen Nolan, Janet Street-Porter and Jane Moore on its panel for numerous years.<\/p>\n

Ruth Langsford, Charlene White, Kaye Adams and Christine Lampard serve as regular hosts. Recently, Love Island’s Olivia Attwood<\/a> and TikTok sensation GK Barry have joined the programme as welcomed contributors.<\/p>\n

All of this resulted in ‘a lot of them decided not to attend’ last night’s awards ceremony and, according to an insider as reported by the Mirror<\/a>, the midday presenters are ‘sick’ of being beaten by This Morning, whilst other ITV Daytime shows don’t even secure a nomination initially.<\/p>\n

A source revealed: “The truth is, the panellists are sick of always missing out to This Morning in the Daytime category, it has become humiliating for them over the years. There is always a sense that ‘this could be the year’ when the presenters attend the NTAs, as they truly believe they deserve a win.”<\/p>\n

Last year, the departure of long-standing hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby from This Morning brought a glimmer of hope to the show’s line-up, but the women were reportedly ‘very disappointed’ when The Chase scooped the coveted award instead.<\/p>\n

An insider told the Daily Mail: “Of course, many of the panellists don’t really feel like celebrating right now, they are months away from having the show’s budget slashed and many in production set to lose their jobs.<\/p>\n

“It just didn’t feel right for many to attend a big, red-carpet event in the midst of all this sadness.”<\/p>\n

Newsreader Charlene attended the glamorous event at the O2 Arena, along with Olivia Attwood, Katie Piper Linda Robson and Frankie Bridge. However, the previous year saw at least 12 stars turn up to see if they had clinched the award.<\/p>\n

Loose Women only bagged an NTA once back in 2010, when they were crowned Most Popular Factual Programme, beating off competition from Top Gear, The Apprentice and Come Dine With Me.<\/p>\n

At the time, regular panel member Coleen, who has been a fixture on the show since 2000, accepted the award alongside former Coronation Street actress Denise Welch, columnist Carol McGiffin, West End star Zoe Tyler and singer Jane McDonald.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Alison Hammond, who has been a familiar presence on This Morning for years, confessed that it was a massive ‘relief’ they had triumphed, particularly after they managed to reclaim the title following two years of defeat to The Repair Shop and The Chase.<\/p>\n

Calling into Thursday’s programme, she told regular presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard: “I’m still buzzing from last night, what a brilliant night. It was just lovely.<\/p>\n

“We hadn’t had it for two years running now and what’s so incredible is when our audience vote for us, we know we’re doing okay. It was just such a relief and we’re just so grateful that everyone picked up the phone and voted for us.”<\/p>\n

Throughout recent years, the programme has undergone countless presenter shake-ups after the exit of hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.<\/p>\n
