Paul Wellens still isn\u2019t sure whether Owen Dagnall will return in time to have a say on St Helens\u2019 play-off campaign.<\/p>\n

Dagnall has been ruled out since late August after tearing his hamstring while in action for the Saints against Hull FC. The winger pulled up in the closing stages of the contest and that injury was confirmed to be a Grade 3 tear.<\/p>\n

However, Wellens said at the time that Dagnall would be \u2018touch and go\u2019 for the end of the season, with the Saints coach leaving the door open for the youngster to return to the fold should he recover in time.<\/p>\n

Dagnall has been one of St Helens\u2019 most impressive performers this season since breaking through into the first-team picture earlier this season. The youngster made his first-team debut for the Saints in February, but earned a Super League call at the end of May and has featured regularly every since.<\/p>\n

Since June 15, he has scored eight tries, making him one of the club\u2019s most prolific scorers and while they have Deon Cross and Kyle Feldt available to take them into the play-offs, Wellens would love to have Dagnall available to him.<\/p>\n

The club are doing all they can to enable him to play before the end of the season but whether the 19-year-old can return to action before the end of the year, whenever that might be for St Helens, remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no definitive time frame for that,\u201d Wellens said when asked how far off Dagnall is from a return to action.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was down in London yesterday (Tuesday) seeing specialists for another PRP injection to try and help increase the healing. We\u2019re going to throw everything at it and do all we can to try and get Owen back towards the end of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t sit here and say he\u2019ll be two weeks or four weeks, we\u2019ll have to go off symptoms and how Owen is feeling. At some we\u2019ll scan him to see what the healing is like.\u201d<\/p>\n
