The majority of the homes \u2014 65 per cent \u2014 will be for social rent, while 35 per cent will be shared ownership.<\/p>\n<p>The Buckland Court housing will feature red-brown brick fa\u00e7ades, with windows vertically aligned and separated by brick piers, as well as red metalwork and precast concrete columns at the building entrance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Cropley Court homes will, meanwhile, have pale grey brickwork, use darker recessed pointing for piers and green metalwork for window frames and balconies, and have precast concrete columns at ground level.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-797230\" class=\"wp-image-797230 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/427_Both-Sites_Iso.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"2482\" height=\"1754\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-797230\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Axonometric showing both sites in relation to each another<\/p>\n<p>Sergison Bates described the local area as \u2018unusual in the uniformity of its housing stock, which was almost entirely rebuilt in the mid-20th century, comprising 12 contiguous Modernist housing estates sometimes fronted by blank gables and linear blocks whose plans often ignore the historic street pattern\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It added: \u2018The proposed new buildings aim to enhance the area\u2019s character while addressing its shortcomings by transforming the expansive but often undefined outdoor spaces into gardens and courts overlooked by homes, designed to invite community use and foster a sense of belonging.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The practice was one of six appointed by Hackney Council <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/hackney-reveals-architects-designs-for-fresh-wave-of-infill-council-housing\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to design<\/a> a combined total of 400 affordable homes\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/hackney-names-architects-chosen-for-infill-council-housing-jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">in 2024<\/a>.
