Teenage Somerset batter Thomas Rew<\/a> continued to impress with another enterprising knock for England Under-19 during the fourth Youth ODI against Bangladesh Under-19 at Beckenham<\/a>.<\/p>\n Thomas Rew continues to impress with 93* for England U19 <\/p>\n Batting first in a match reduced to 45 overs per side midway through the first innings, England U19 made 279-5, aided by 27 extras from the Bangladesh bowlers. The hosts\u2019 top scorer was captain Thomas Rew, brother of England Test prospect James. He reached his half-century off 47 balls with a cut shot off left-arm spinner Samiun Basir Ratul. Off the penultimate ball of the 44th over, he struck a huge six off seam-bowling all-rounder Rizan Hossan to reach 92.<\/p>\n Going into the last over, Rew had the chance to reach his second century in Youth ODI cricket, but he faced just one delivery to finish with an 86-ball 93, hitting seven fours and four sixes overall. Rew stitched an 89-run fifth-wicket stand with Ralphie Albert, who struck a 37-ball half-century to provide late impetus to the England innings. Albert was dismissed off the first ball of the penultimate over for a 43-ball 52, hitting five fours and two sixes. Rew also added 71 runs together with England No.5 Jack Nelson (28). <\/p>\n The two teams entered the match with the series scoreline tied at 1-1, and that remains the same after further rain meant Bangladesh’s chase could not get underway at all. The fifth and final Youth ODI will be played on September 14. <\/p>\n After averaging 7.40 in his first seven Youth ODIs without a fifty, Rew turned things around in his next eight matches, averaging 101.75 at a strike rate of 123.33. Earlier in June, he scored 131 against India U19, his maiden Youth ODI century<\/a>. Two days later, he followed it up with a 76 not out against the same opposition. Rew has also represented England in four U19 Tests so far, scoring 280 runs at 40, including three fifties<\/a>.<\/p>\n Rew has also already debuted in senior domestic cricket. His first three List A innings read 44, 51, and 84 not out; the last two of which came for Somerset in the 2025 One-Day Cup<\/a>. So far, he has scored 352 runs in the format at an average of 44.00 and a strike rate of 94.62.
