It\u2019s a bird, it\u2019s a plane\u2026 it\u2019s a sequel. Warner Bros.<\/a> is officially moving forward with Man of Tomorrow<\/a>, the follow-up to James Gunn<\/a>\u2019s blockbuster Superman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The superhero reboot starring David Corenswet<\/a> as the Man of Steel soared to more than $614 million worldwide, making it the year\u2019s top-grossing comic book movie. With numbers like that, it\u2019s no surprise the studio is fast-tracking the next chapter in Gunn\u2019s Superman universe.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s everything to know about Man of Tomorrow. <\/p>\n

What’s it about? <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat,\u201d Gunn revealed on Howard Stern’s SiriuxXM radio show. \u201cIt\u2019s more complicated than that but that\u2019s a big part of it. It\u2019s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I loved working with Nicholas Hoult. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly. I really wanted to create something extraordinary with the two of them. I just love the script so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who’s in it? <\/p>\n

Corenswet will reprise his role as Superman, with Hoult returning as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan back as Lois Lane. Joining them are Milly Alcock as Supergirl and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl, both of whom appeared in the first film. Additional casting will be announced as production moves forward.<\/p>\n

When will it hit theaters? <\/p>\n

Warner Bros. has set a July 9, 2027 release date \u2014 two years after Superman hit theaters. Gunn confirmed cameras are scheduled to roll in April 2026.<\/p>\n

Who’s behind the camera? <\/p>\n

Gunn will return to direct Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to his box-office hit Superman. In 2022, Gold Derby reported<\/a> that Warner Bros. selected Gunn and producer Peter Safran to lead the DC films division across film, television, and animation. They report to Warner Bros. Discovery’s\u00a0David Zaslav\u00a0while working alongside Warner Bros. film leaders\u00a0Michael De Luca\u00a0and\u00a0Pamela Abdy.
