The boxing legend’s death was announced earlier today<\/p>\n

People have started leaving flowers and cards outside the home of Ricky Hatton<\/a> in Hyde<\/a>, following the news of his death<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At around midday today, Greater Manchester Police<\/a> confirmed that a body had been found at the residence of the Stockport<\/a>-born fighter.<\/p>\n

GMP have said that the death is not being treated as suspicious.<\/p>\n

Our reporter Greta Simpson<\/a>, who has been at the scene since the news broke<\/a> this morning, has spoken to devastated fans of the world champion boxer<\/a> as they arrived to pay tribute to the 46-year-old.<\/p>\n

One man, who said he was a close friend of Ricky\u2019s had driven down, from Scotland<\/a> after getting the heartbreaking call at around 8am this morning.<\/p>\n

“I’ve just cried for four or five hours, the whole drive down,” he said. “I can\u2019t believe it.”<\/p>\n

Stephen Billing, 46, from Longsight<\/a> left a Man City<\/a> scarf outside Hatton’s home.<\/p>\n

He told Greta: “I’d see him at City and after that he would get people to his gym.<\/p>\n

“He was hard as nails I know that in the ring and out of the ring but in a good way. Just a great guy local down to earth you wouldn\u2019t think he was a boxer with millions. Everyone has their ups and downs. It\u2019s sad. He was a great geezer.”<\/p>\n

Mr Billing added: “He\u2019s a Manchester lad proper City fan I can\u2019t believe it\u2019s derby day today and it\u2019s happened. Proper f***ing geezer.”<\/p>\n
