The death of Ricky Hatton is not believed to be suspicious, police have said following the discovery of a body at the boxer’s home in Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n

The discovery was made by a member of the public, who called police to Bowlacre Road, Tameside at around 6.45am on Sunday, September 14.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police has released a statement confirming a body was found at the address.<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News <\/a>reports the body of a 46-year-old man is that of Ricky Hatton, who had planned to return to boxing with a fight planned for this December.<\/p>\n

A GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6.45am today where they found the body of a 46-year-old man.<\/p>\n

“There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”<\/p>\n

A police cordon was in place at his residence on Sunday morning but has since been removed.<\/p>\n

The news comes months after the legendary boxer announced his comeback to the ring.<\/p>\n

Mr Hatton, who would have celebrated his 47th birthday in October, had been candid about his battles with mental health issues and drug addiction.<\/p>\n

He had survived suicide attempts and reconciled with his family after addressing his own mental health.<\/p>\n
