said Dr Kunal Sood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Some <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2072-6643\/12\/4\/936\">studies<\/a>\u00a0have suggested different foods with tryptophan can help improve sleep quality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But it is also high in healthy fats which prevent blood sugar level spikes, which can be a cause for waking up during the night,\u00a0added the US-based anesthesiologist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;Lastly peanut butter also contains magnesium which has been shown to also relax you and improve sleep quality,&#8217; he said in a recent <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@doctorsood\/video\/7529147819928620301?lang=en\">video <\/a>posted on <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/tiktok\/index.html\" id=\"mol-14d96320-663b-11f0-92ed-659118bad12e\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TikTok<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">These claims are backed up by research on other foods, but a study in 2024 found peanut butter didn&#8217;t have a positive effect on sleep.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">However, the study involved 40 firefighters who commonly have sleep difficulties due to their work shifts, so the results may differ for the average person.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Dr Sood was reacting to a video posted two years ago by a 29-year-old woman from <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/pennsylvania\/index.html\" id=\"mol-95d46470-6640-11f0-92ed-659118bad12e\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pennsylvania<\/a> in the US that amassed 1.8million views.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-376a516452ad6dc1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/100494961-14925095-Dr_Sood_explaining_why_he_believes_peanut_butter_can_help_you_sl-a-2_175311248911.jpeg\" height=\"468\" width=\"306\" alt=\"Dr Sood explaining why he believes peanut butter can help you sleep better\" class=\"blkBorder img-share\" style=\"max-width:100%\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>    <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-699c384a6ab8f966\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/100494959-14925095-The_original_video_in_the_background_that_amassed_over_1_8_milli-a-1_175311248911.jpeg\" height=\"468\" width=\"306\" alt=\"The original video in the background that amassed over 1.8 million views\" class=\"blkBorder img-share\" style=\"max-width:100%\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p class=\"imageCaption\">A US-based doctor, Dr Sood, has claimed peanut butter can help you get a better night&#8217;s sleep<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In the <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@belleeilonwy\/video\/7213890178799275310?lang=en\">other video<\/a>, Kat Eilonwy said: &#8216;So, apparently eating a spoon of peanut butter before bed helps drop your cortisol levels to help you sleep.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Cortisol, often known as the &#8216;stress hormone&#8217; can disrupt sleep if levels are elevated in the evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Previously <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/34656952\/\">researchers <\/a>have found those who regularly eat peanut butter have lower cortisol levels\u2014so, the snack may help you wind down before sleeping.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The study also found those who ate peanut butter reported lower levels of anxiety and depression.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In the comment section of her video, one user said: &#8216;I discovered that a spoonful before bedtime helps me sleep through the night.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Another user wrote: &#8216;Every night I take one slice of bread, slap some PB on it and fold it in half. I&#8217;m always asleep within 30 minutes of eating that.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A third user added: &#8216;It works! I&#8217;ve been doing it for three months, doing it to help my stomach when I couldn&#8217;t sleep and noticed I slept better after a spoonful of peanut butter.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">After posting his video, Dr Sood also received comments from social media user saying it has helped them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">One user said: &#8216;I have trouble sleeping almost every night.
