\n\tThe signal is not quite in the sky but will be shining very soon.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the heels of a report this summer in Puck that Matt Reeves<\/a> was just about to deliver a sequel script for The Batman<\/a>: Part II, the veteran filmmaker confirmed Sunday that he did indeed hand it over and now the team is gearing up for another go in Gotham City. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re getting ready. We\u2019re basically entering prep. We\u2019ll be making the movie in the spring,\u201d Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter while walking the carpet at Sunday\u2019s Emmy Awards at L.A.\u2019s Peacock Theater where he was part of the nominated team representing The Penguin. \u201cIt\u2019s been a journey that is taking longer than I would\u2019ve wanted for a lot of reasons, a lot of personal reasons, but most important reason is getting it to a place where I just felt like it was the best script we could possibly write.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThat long journey Reeves noted refers to time that has passed since The Batman came out on March 4, 2022, launching a new era for the DC hero. It went on to become a blockbuster hit grossing $772 million worldwide, and executives at Warner Bros. and DC were reportedly eager to get a sequel script from Reeves and writing partner Mattson Tomlin. With pens down and the studio on board, Reeves also confirmed that Batman himself, Robert Pattinson, has read the script and is ready to slip back into the suit.<\/p>\n

\n\tBut how exactly do they get the script to Pattinson and maintain the top secret nature of the story? As it turned out, they relied on a high tech strategy that Bruce Wayne would have no trouble with but Pattinson did. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo, Benito, who\u2019s my assistant, he goes and seeks out a very, very high security pouch that has a code on it that then we have to send separately,\u201d Reeves revealed of the locked gadget. \u201cAnd then [Rob] was like, \u2018I can\u2019t open it.\u2019 I said, \u2018I know, here\u2019s the code.\u2019 He opened it, and then we had a FaceTime after he read. It was very exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThough he didn\u2019t reveal any specific plot points, Reeves did share that this new installment will be similar in a sense to the detective story featured in The Batman. \u201cObviously because of what the first movie was and what this movie is, which is so much a detective story, the idea of trying to protect the secrets of the movie is super important because it\u2019s a mystery,\u201d Reeves continued. \u201cIt would be an extra level of heartbreak if that part of it started getting out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSo no spoilers here, but what would Reeves did say is that Batman fans should be ready for something new. Even Pattinson loved it. \u201cHe\u2019s Batman, and if he doesn\u2019t like it, not good,\u201d Reeves explained. \u201cI was super excited. I thought that he really would [like it] because the things that it does for his character, for Batman and for Bruce, have never been done before in this way. I had a feeling that he would respond in this way, but the fact that he did was incredibly encouraging.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
