Image: XPB Images<\/p>\n<p>Provost made his first appearance on the F1 paddock at the Italian Grand Prix last week, just weeks after assuming the CEO role in late July following Luca de Meo\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n<p>His visit came amid lingering uncertainty about Alpine\u2019s direction, particularly after Renault announced it would end its in-house F1 power unit programme at Viry-Chatillon, with Alpine set to become a Mercedes customer from 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy visit aims mainly to reaffirm we\u2019re staying in Formula 1,\u201d Provost told Canal+.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re staying in Formula 1 for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Renault CEO highlighted Alpine\u2019s ongoing efforts to stabilise the Enstone-based team as a key factor in the long-term plan.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed to Pierre Gasly\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/f1-news-2025-pierre-gasly-alpine-resigns-contract-driver-signing-2028-extension\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent contract extension through 2028<\/a> as an anchor for continuity, as well as the appointment of Steve Nielsen as managing director from 1 September.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tWin a trip to the Adelaide 500 for you and 4 friends \ud83d\udc49:  <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3VHU6Ww\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> FREE ENTRY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s also a very positive sign,\u201d Provost said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are entering a new era, which will be a performance era but above all a stability era.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPierre\u2019s commitment demonstrates this well. Steve\u2019s appointment as managing director is a good example, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, you see, we\u2019ve made many steps forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Provost takes the top job at a challenging time for Renault, which reported an \u20ac11.2 billion loss ($19.9 billion AUD) in the first half of 2025, including a \u20ac9.3 billion ($16.5 billion AUD) write-down on its investment in Nissan.<\/p>\n<p>Shares also fell sharply in mid-July following a surprise profit warning, amplifying concerns about the company\u2019s broader strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Alpine\u2019s 2025 F1 campaign has struggled, sitting last in the constructors\u2019 championship.<\/p>\n<p>Gasly\u2019s 20 points trail Haas by more than half, while Franco Colapinto has yet to score after replacing Jack Doohan mid-season.<\/p>\n<p>Development this year has been curtailed as the team focuses on the 2026 technical regulations, leaving performance on track limited.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Renault\u2019s new CEO has restated the brand\u2019s commitment to Formula 1.
