The royal family<\/a> may live in ways that seem alien to us much of the time, but there\u2019s the occasional snippet of news that reminds us that we\u2019re really not so different to them after all.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most down-to-earth member of \u2018The Firm\u2019 is the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton<\/a>. Not from an aristocratic background, she’s also been known to adjust the rules of royal life<\/a> to suit her, while Kate is open to sharing tidbits about her formative years growing up away from the royal household.<\/p>\n

In fact, the 43-year-old Princess of Wales previously revealed that she had a rather un-regal nickname growing up (with her younger sister, Pippa, also having a schoolyard moniker).<\/p>\n

When on a royal engagement to her old prep school St Andrews in Pangbourne, Berkshire, Kate told onlookers she was once known as \u201cSqueak\u201d to her classmates.<\/p>\n

And no, the nickname didn\u2019t come from Kate\u2019s mousey demeanor or any inherent shyness; instead, it\u2019s all to do with the school guinea pigs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was one called Pip and one called Squeak,\u201d Kate explained to crowds. \u201cSo my sister was called Pip and I was Squeak.\u201d<\/p>\n

As endearing as Squeak is, it\u2019s just one of a whole host on nicknames Kate has been dubbed over the years. Having previously boasted of a close friendship, Prince Harry<\/a> had his own little pet name for the Princess of Wales.<\/p>\n

The Duke of Sussex would refer to her as \u201cCath,\u201d while most of her other friends, family, and loved ones call her Kate.<\/p>\n

During an interview with BBC Radio One presenter Scott Mills<\/a>, Kate joked she\u2019s pretty easygoing when it comes to nicknames.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will answer to most things,\u201d she laughed, adding that Prince William refers to her as \u201cbabe\u201d or \u201cdarling,\u201d while her three children (Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10 and seven-year-old Prince Louis) call her \u201cmummy.\u201d<\/p>\n
