Mark Ronson has recalled feeling \u2018deeply unnerved\u2019 by Sean \u2018Diddy<\/a>\u2019 Combs while DJing at his New York<\/a> parties.<\/p>\n

The music producer, who is behind some of the biggest songs in history, opened up about his stint on the decks in the 90s in a new book \u2013 and shed light on performing at the disgraced rapper\u2019s bashes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an extract from his new memoir, Night People: How to Be a DJ in \u201990s New York City, obtained by Us Weekly<\/a>, he explained that this was years before the \u2018horrific allegations\u2019<\/a> arose of the 55-year-old\u2019s behavior.<\/p>\n

\u2018For all the gigs I played for Puff [Combs], he probably spoke five sentences to me. But even to me, the DJ, he emitted a chaotic energy that left me both starstruck and deeply unnerved,\u2019 the Uptown Funk star reportedly wrote.<\/p>\n

He claimed that it became \u2018abundantly clear\u2019 to him that Combs \u2018wielded a tremendous amount of power and cachet\u2019 in the club scene.<\/p>\n

\u2018He made people\u2019s careers \u2013 playing gigs for him certainly helped mine \u2013 and his disapproval meant a certain kind of exile,\u2019 Ronson penned, recalling that no one \u2018thought of Puffy as a rapper\u2019, but as a \u2018force who could will anything into existence, no matter the cost\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018He took over downtown \u2013 and then the Hamptons \u2013 until the whole city seemed to revolve around him and his parties,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m sure he thought I was a great DJ, but on his mission to shake up New York society, it didn\u2019t hurt to have a fresh-faced white kid from a nice family in the booth.<\/p>\n

\u2018When I got booked to play his parties, I\u2019d look to the VIP area and see people like Muhammad Ali, Martha Stewart, Denzel [Washington] and the Duchess of York [Sarah Ferguson<\/a>] all mingling. Everyone went.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ronson added that, at that time, the \u2018only controversy surrounding Puff was around the music\u2019, years before \u2018horrific allegations of what was also going on beneath the surface\u2019 emerged.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Combs\u2019 ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit in which she accused him of raping and physically abusing her during the course of their relationship.<\/p>\n

They settled shortly after but the music mogul was later arrested on September 16, 2024<\/a>, and charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.<\/p>\n

The I\u2019ll Be Missing You star pleaded not guilty and went on trial in Manhattan earlier this year \u2013 Ventura and Kid Cudi were among those testifying<\/a> in court.<\/p>\n

He was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but acquitted of the racketeering and sex trafficking charges.<\/p>\n

Combs is currently behind bars ahead of his sentencing hearing next month, and could face up to 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n
