\n She said: \u201cFraudsters know fans are desperate to secure spots at sold-out events, so big events like F1 Silverstone could be targeted by fake ticket sites.\n<\/p>\n
\n “These sites entice fans by making themselves look official as resale platforms.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cOur research found that more than half (52 per cent) of ticket-buyers have been targeted by a scam or fraud attempt. This goes to show how common the issue is.\n<\/p>\n
\n “To avoid being caught out, always buy tickets through trusted sites and double-check that the seller is authorised.\n<\/p>\n
\n “If you\u2019re buying online, using a credit card can offer an extra layer of protection under Section 75 in case something goes wrong.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cIt\u2019s also worth being extra cautious of deals that seem too good to be true or last-minute ticket offers on social media.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure fans into making rushed decisions.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Take a few moments to research the site or seller and avoid clicking links from unfamiliar sources.\n<\/p>\n
