apply for \u00a3441 Pension Age Disability Payment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The Pension Age Disability Payment, administered by Social Security Scotland, is the new replacement for the Attendance Allowance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The payment aims to support older people with disabilities or long-term health conditions affecting their self-care abilities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The new benefit, which is not income-based, was launched for applications in October last year across five pilot areas before expanding nationwide on April 22.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Read more:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a reaccredited under national programme<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Figures released on Tuesday, September 16, show that between October last year and July this year, Social Security Scotland processed 11,060 applications for the benefit \u2013 an average of around 1,200 every month.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Of these, 82 per cent were authorised, 12 per cent were denied and 6 per cent were withdrawn.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  National advice agency, Advice Direct Scotland, is urging potentially eligible older people to check their eligibility to avoid missing out.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The charity, which handles more than 900,000 inquiries annually, can provide guidance on applications and claims.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Scots can check their eligibility and apply for the Pension Age Disability Payment at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/pension-age-disability-payment\/applicants?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">https:\/\/www.mygov.scot\/pension-age-disability-payment\/applicants<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Rebecca Fagan, benefit and welfare information officer at Advice Direct Scotland, said: &#8220;These are the most comprehensive figures we have had on the Pension Age Disability Payment since it started to roll out in October last year, and it\u2019s encouraging to see so many new applications being processed.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;It\u2019s crucial that older people who are disabled, terminally ill, or have care needs continue to receive the financial support necessary to maintain their well-being, safety, and dignity.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She also pointed out that many applicants fail to complete the second part of their application or experience delays in completing it.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She added: &#8220;The application process can appear complex, and it is recognised that some individuals may require further assistance to complete it.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Advice Direct Scotland&#8217;s advice.scot team is available for support at 0808 800 9060, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  An online benefits calculator is also available to help assess
