The trailer for the new Anaconda reboot<\/a> has just been released \u2014 and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of dumb fun.<\/p>\n

Rather than being a straightforward re-do of the 1997 film that stared Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight and Owen Wilson, this one is taking a more meta approach<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jack Black and Paul Rudd star as film fanatics who decide to shoot a remake of their favourite movie: Anaconda.<\/p>\n

They head to the Amazon with a small crew and a hired snake, but disaster strikes when they accidentally kill the snake.<\/p>\n

Thankfully for them \u2014 or rather, not \u2014 they soon come across a giant anaconda.<\/p>\n

They decide to carry on shooting their remake but, well, they’re being chased by a giant anaconda. Will they literally die for their art?<\/p>\n

Of course, it’s all soundtracked by the famous sample from Sir Mix-a-Lot’s ‘Baby Got Back’ (the one Nicki Minaj based the entirety of ‘Anaconda’ around).<\/p>\n

Alongside Black and Rudd, the film also stars The Suicide Squad’s Daniela Melchior, Line of Duty’s Thandiwe Newton, and The White Lotus season 1’s Steve Zahn.<\/p>\n

Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, who wrote the similarly-meta Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, penned the script, while Gormican directed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rudd has been confirmed for an adaptation of the novel Rain Reign and it serves as a reunion<\/a> with one of his Clueless co-stars.<\/p>\n

The Anaconda reboot will be released in the US on 25 December, and in the UK on 26 December.<\/p>\n
