After a touchline spat cleared both benches, Simeone was dismissed by referee Maurizio Mariani, casting doubt on his involvement in future Champions League meetings with Eintracht Frankfurt, Arsenal, and Union Saint-Gilloise.<\/p>\n

“Obviously my reaction is not justifiable, I insulted him. But it was 90 minutes of being insulted the whole time. It is not that easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Will Diego Simeone be banned for Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid?<\/p>\n

Simeone is set to serve a one-match touchline ban after being sent off post-match at Anfield.<\/p>\n

UEFA<\/a> regulations read: \u201cAs a rule, a player or team official sent off by the referee is automatically suspended for the next match in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League or UEFA Super Cup). <\/p>\n

\u201cIn the event of a serious offence, the UEFA disciplinary bodies are entitled to augment this punishment, including by extending it to other competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Atletico will face Arsenal<\/a> on Champions League matchday three, meaning Simeone will serve his ban as the Rojiblancos host Eintracht Frankfurt next week and return to the dugout in N5.<\/p>\n
