After relocating to Maui in 1999, The Plantation Course has played host to the iconic event, which has been sponsored by Sentry Insurance since 2018.<\/p>\n
Maui County has been experiencing significant drought conditions, affecting over 90 per cent of the area.<\/p>\n
Over 140,000 residents have been impacted, per state data, and water conservation mandates are prioritising the local people.<\/p>\n
Kapalua Resort has been placed under restrictions and PGA Tour<\/a> specialists conducted a visit this month, deciding that the course had been ‘significantly compromised.’<\/p>\n While it could recover, the time it takes to put on such a big events means preparations to stage the January tournament elsewhere must begin now.<\/p>\n \u201cFollowing discussions with the Governor\u2019s office, as well as leadership from Sentry Insurance, Kapalua Resort and Maui County, the PGA Tour has determined the 2026 playing of The Sentry will not be contested at The Plantation Course at Kapalua due to ongoing drought conditions, water conservation requirements, agronomic conditions and logistical challenges,\u201d a statement read. \u201cAdditional event information will be shared when appropriate.”<\/p>\n PGA CEO Brian Rolapp and Hawaii Governor Josh Green discussed the development in a virtual meeting on Monday.<\/p>\n “We support the PGA Tour’s decision, given the drought
