{"id":146934,"date":"2025-09-19T07:10:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T07:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/146934\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T07:10:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T07:10:11","slug":"large-snake-videoed-slithering-in-oxfordshire-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/146934\/","title":{"rendered":"Large snake videoed slithering in Oxfordshire town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The snake was seen on Tuesday, September 16 in Banbury, near to the historic lock and is reported to be a lengthy grass snake.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It is non-venomous and one of three snake species native to the UK, the others being the venomous adder snake and the non-venomous smooth snake.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Grass snakes generally grow to around a metre in length which puts this on the larger size.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Wendy Bedding, a local who saw it, said: \u201cIt was next to the lock, where the boats go in to raise up.
