Telomeres are \u201cprotective caps on your chromosomes that naturally wear down with age,\u201d explains  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/drmercola\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/drmercola\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Joseph Mercola, D.O.\" data-node-id=\"4.5\" class=\"body-link css-inlxvj emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Joseph Mercola, D.O.<\/a>, board-certified family physician and author of Your Guide to Cellular Health, and they protect DNA during cell division, a process that the body uses to repair and grow.
