\u201cHe actually said a few days before that we are too nice sometimes,\u201d Brook told BBC Sport.\u201cI brought it up the night before the last day: \u2018Baz said the other day we\u2019re too nice. I think tomorrow is the perfect opportunity to really get stuck into them.\u2019\u201cIt came at the perfect time. The opportunity that arose for us to not be the nice guys was because of what they did the night before.\u201cWe watched two of our guys out there on their own, going back at the Indians after they were going at them. We just thought, \u2018we\u2019re not standing for that.\u2019\u201cWe had a conversation and said, \u2018it\u2019s time to not be those nice guys that we have been before.\u2019\u201dBrook, who made his Test debut under McCullum and has now been appointed England\u2019s white-ball captain, explained why England are trying to shed the \u201cnice guys\u201d tag.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Lord\u2019s, we had a conversation and thought it was the perfect opportunity to stop being the nice guys we\u2019ve been for the past three years,\u201d he said.\u201cTo go out there and put them under more pressure than what they\u2019ve probably faced before.\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s against the spirit of cricket. We weren\u2019t being personal, we weren\u2019t being nasty\u2014we were just putting them under more pressure.\u201cWe weren\u2019t going out there effing and jeffing at them or being nasty people.
