Lionsgate have released the trailer and some first-look images for their upcoming thriller, The Housemaid<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new film is directed by Paul Feig<\/a>, who is best known for directing comedies such as Bridesmaids (2011), The Heat (2013),\u00a0Spy (2015), and Ghostbusters (2016). He has also directed the thrillers A Simple Favour (2017) and its sequel Another Simple Favour<\/a> (2025).<\/p>\n

The Housemaid stars Amanda Seyfried<\/a> and Sydney Sweeney<\/a> in the lead roles. Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins complete the main cast.<\/p>\n

The film’s synopsis reads \u201cTrying to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous \u2014 a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Housemaid is based on the best-selling novel by Frieda McFadden, which was released in 2022, and has sold 1.6 million copies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At CinemaCon<\/a> in April, where the film’s first trailer made its debut, CinemaCon, Seyfried<\/a> said\u00a0\u201cI will never forget the way playing Nina made me feel. I went to places I never thought I’d go to. The surprises in my own experience in playing this character were life-affirming and career affirming\u2026 we reached places I never could go as an actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sweeney added \u201cI’m a big book lover, I love reading books. The Housemaid was everywhere \u2014 Amazon and all over TikTok. I read all three [books] in one week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Feig has also been building expectations for the new release, saying that screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine<\/a> has \u201chit just the perfect balance\u201d with her script.\u00a0<\/p>\n
