It’s September 2025, and millions of people — Apple fans, in particular — are talking about the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max. Meanwhile, your Galaxy S23 Ultra is still boasting features the latest iPhone doesn’t have. And no, I’m not talking just about the S Pen.

Granted, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is a newer phone with greater processing power, and it has its own unique features. But your Galaxy S23 Ultra is no slouch. It still has a few aces up its sleeve that will give you bragging rights over the competition. Let’s take a moment and appreciate some of them.

How is your Galaxy S23 Ultra better than the latest iPhone?

Reason #1: A higher-density screen

In all fairness, this isn’t such a big deal. But it is a little bit ironic, seeing how Apple always talked about “Retina” quality displays.

Although the latest iPhone does have a newer display technology with a higher brightness, it still has a lower resolution and pixel density than the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s panel.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max has roughly 460 ppi, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra tops ~500 pixels per inch.

Reason #2: A powerful camera system

Now we’re getting into more serious stuff. Even though Apple brought some improvements to its iPhone flagship’s camera system, your Galaxy S23 Ultra maintains the high ground in several areas. These include:

A much higher-resolution 200 MP primary sensor versus the iPhone’s 48MP shooter.

3x and 10x zoom cameras instead of the iPhone’s single 4x telephoto lens.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has 8K video recording capabilities, whereas the best iPhone in 2025 tops out at 4K.

Reason #3: Faster charging

If you care about how fast your phone can recharge its battery, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is technically superior, at least on paper.

Your Samsung flagship from 2023 boasts 45W wired charging, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max can go up to 40W.

It’s not a big deal, but it is a bragging right considering that your Galaxy S23 Ultra is a couple of years older than the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Reason #4: Productivity and creativity

Last but not least, the Galaxy S23 Ultra still offers unique creativity, handwriting, and productivity tools you won’t find on any iPhone.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is uniquely equipped with the S Pen stylus, which allows you to sign documents, create art and AI art, edit photos with higher precision, and more.

But even if many Apple fans will tell you that they don’t need a stylus, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has another secret weapon for productivity-oriented users. And that is Samsung DeX.

You can’t use the iPhone 17 Pro Max as a desktop PC replacement in 2025, but your Galaxy S23 Ultra will let you connect to a TV or an external monitor and hook up a keyboard and a mouse.

In essence, you can turn your Galaxy S23 Ultra into a pocket-sized desktop PC should you need it, but the iPhone 17 Pro Max simply cannot reach that level of versatility in 2025.
