Under the proposed plan, all patients arriving at A&E would undergo triage, health bosses said. <\/p>\n
Those deemed not to require emergency care would be given advice on alternative services. If they still chose to be seen at the hospital, they would be charged.<\/p>\n
The fee was expected to be similar to the current rates for the Jersey Doctors on Call (JDOC) service, which is \u00a377 for residents and \u00a397 for non-residents. <\/p>\n
A reduced fee would be available for individuals in households receiving income support, officials said.<\/p>\n
Certain patient groups would be exempt from the charge, including children and psychiatric patients, and an appeals process would also be established to handle any disputes.<\/p>\n
