He remains a shareholder, via parent company <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/enic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ENIC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There have been vague murmurings of a \u00a3100m investment from the Lewis family in the weeks since, though the only cash injection to date has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/enics-dilemma-to-deliver-tottenham-a-premier-league-title-as-500m-scenario-mooted\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a390m loan from Australian investment bank Macquarie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btbf-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@BeyondTheBackFour?sub_confirmation=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">    <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"object-fit:unset\" src=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/custom\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/podcast\/btbf-title.svg\" alt=\"\"\/>  Click to subscribe to the podcast <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"object-fit:unset;height:30px;width:fit-content\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/custom\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/podcast\/youtube.svg\" alt=\"\"\/>  <\/a><\/p>\n<p>A naming rights deal for the <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/tottenham-hotspur\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tottenham<\/a> Hotspur Stadium with an unnamed Saudi entity was recently said to be close too, but \u2013 after several false dawns in this area in recent years \u2013 nothing has materialised.<\/p>\n<p>So far then, life after <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/daniel-levy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Levy<\/a> has been more of the same, at least in terms of how the club is funded.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2235779535-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"A general view of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium\" class=\"wp-image-988315\" \/>Photo by Dennis Agyeman \/ Europa Press via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The owners haven\u2019t put their hands in their pockets, instead relying on external debt and the club\u2019s own admittedly huge revenues to finance day-to-day activities, like paying wages and transfer instalments.<\/p>\n<p>But that said, there is clearly a major shake-up in progress. <\/p>\n<p>Thomas Frank joined as manager in the summer and has been well received. Post-Levy, Charrington has taken over as non-executive chairman.<\/p>\n<p>And a spate of subsequent changes at executive level suggest that ENIC \u2013 who have also distanced themselves from a full takeover, though not a minority investment \u2013 want to set a new tone in N17.<\/p>\n<p>Kieran Maguire Spurs warned about boardroom revolution<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Spurs named Kate Miller their new chief communications officer and Adam Gardiner as their new chief marketing officer.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking exclusively to TBR Football, Liverpool University <a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/football-finance\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">football finance<\/a> lecturer warned Spurs against enacting too much change all at once, citing Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill.<\/p>\n<p>United have spent \u00a34.6bn on wages and amortised transfer fees since Ferguson and Gill left the club. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a lot of unpicking to do before Tottenham can move past the Daniel Levy way,\u201d Maguire said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am always slightly concerned that when you get rid of a chief executive and your man on the shop floor in the manager as well, that can create a void.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2231724656-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"A closeup shot of former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy\" class=\"wp-image-988316\" \/>Photo by Marc Atkins\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou only have to look at what happened at Man United \u2013 it wasn\u2019t just the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson; it was the fact that David Gill left at the same time. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, as far as Ferguson was concerned, he was somewhat similar to Levy in that he ran the club as a personal fiefdom as far as the footballing side was concerned. There are similarities there. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was very ably supported by Gill. When they left, Man United were a rudderless ship. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt might be a bit different at Spurs because they have had a much more rotational policy as far as the manager was concerned. But at board level, they will perhaps find that they underestimate just how many things that Levy was overseeing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spurs have sixth-most expensive squad in the world, despite ENIC narrative<\/p>\n<p>Despite perceptions that ENIC are frugal owners, new data from CIES Football Observatory shows that Spurs have the sixth-most expensive squad in world football, ahead of the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.<\/p>\n<p>ClubTotal squad costChelsea FC (ENG)\u00a31.1bnManchester City (ENG)\u00a3958.8mManchester United (ENG)\u00a3910.4mLiverpool FC (ENG)\u00a3905.2mArsenal FC (ENG)\u00a3850.9mTottenham Hotspur (ENG)\u00a3827.9mParis St-Germain (FRA)\u00a3742.0mReal Madrid (ESP)\u00a3725.9mNewcastle United (ENG)\u00a3693.6mAtl\u00e9tico Madrid (ESP)\u00a3486.2m<\/p>\n<p>Spurs spent around \u00a3185m this summer, taking the total expense of their squad to just shy of \u00a3828m.<\/p>\n<p>However, where narratives around ENIC\u2019s conservative approach are accurate is the wage bill.<\/p>\n<p>Spurs fell out of the \u2018Big Six\u2019 in terms of the wages they pay players in 2023-24, the last published financial year, surpassed by Aston Villa.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024-25, they likely were outspent by Villa again, as well as potentially Newcastle.
