Leigh Leopards boss Adrian Lam admits he is interested in signing Papua New Guinea international Jacob Alick-Wiencke.<\/p>\n

The back-rower has been released by Gold Coast Titans following the end of the NRL season with All Out Rugby League claiming last week that Leigh<\/a> were in the driving seat to sign him as they bid to strengthen their pack options.<\/p>\n

Alick-Wiencke has spent the last three seasons with the Titans, but made just 19 appearances for the club with much of his game time coming in the Queensland Cup. Since making his debut in the second string competition in 2019 he has represented Souths Logan Magpies, Burleigh Bears and Tweed Seagulls, racking up 81 appearances and scoring 30 tries.<\/p>\n

He also has 10 caps for the Kumuls under his belt, with his most recent outing coming in the front-row last year against New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Asked whether he was a person of interest to the Leopards, Lam told Serious About RL: \u201cWe don\u2019t really discuss the players we\u2019re signing or we\u2019re interested in but we are interested in him, absolutely. We\u2019ll keep working hard and see where that can get to.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point we\u2019re not making any announcements because we\u2019ve still got a handful of players that we have re-signed within the club on the retention side of things. There\u2019s a few going and a few staying so we need to put that together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve tracked him since he was a teenager, obviously being PNG as well there\u2019s a relationship there but we\u2019ll have to see what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leigh have also been linked with a move for Wynnum Manly Seagulls half-back Liam Sutton with Love Rugby League making that link.<\/p>\n

Asked about the 22-year-old, Lam added: \u201cHis name has popped up a couple of times.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgain, we\u2019re looking for a player to strengthen that right side half-back so we\u2019ve looked at him and a couple of others.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
