Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has signed up for the auction for this winter’s ILT20 in the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n
The 39-year-old, who retired from international duty last December and from the Indian Premier League in August, is understood to have entered at a base price of $120,000 (\u00a389,000) – the highest of any player.<\/p>\n
Ashwin is set to become the highest profile Indian player travelling to play on the T20 franchise circuit.<\/p>\n
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow any player in Indian international or domestic cricket to feature in overseas leagues in an attempt to protect the IPL.<\/p>\n
Reports in Australia suggest Ashwin will play in the Big Bash after his participation in the ILT20.<\/p>\n
The ILT20 runs from 2 December to 4 January this winter with England internationals Phil Salt, Sam Curran, Tom Banton, Liam Livingstone and Dan Lawrence among those already signed or retained by franchises. <\/p>\n
The Big Bash runs from 15 December to 25 January, meaning Ashwin could be available at the back-end of the league phase and for the play-offs.<\/p>\n
The ILT20 auction takes place on 1 October.<\/p>\n
England’s leading wicket-taker James Anderson has also entered as he continues to look for franchise opportunities following his international retirement. <\/p>\n
