A fundraiser from Guernsey has set off on a challenge to run from Land’s End to John O’Groats – and then cycle all the way back.<\/p>\n
Drew Jonkmans started the run from Cornwall on Monday with the aim of reaching the Scottish landmark in 20 days.<\/p>\n
He will then ride a bicycle back to Land’s End, with his plan to finish the challenge – which has been called Project Endure – on 21 October.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old is raising money to help fund mental health services for young people run by Bigmoose and the BecomingX Foundation.<\/p>\n
Mr Jonkmans, who said he had experienced his own “dark” battles with mental health when he was younger, added he wanted to do another big challenge to help others with their mental health and charities offering support.<\/p>\n
He said he expected this challenge to be different to anything he had done before.<\/p>\n
He said: “It’s a pure war of attrition type of race – running every day for 20 days doing 50 miles (80.5km).<\/p>\n
