{"id":156962,"date":"2025-09-24T06:00:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T06:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/156962\/"},"modified":"2025-09-24T06:00:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T06:00:09","slug":"tennis-star-breaks-down-in-tears-as-he-brutally-loses-fifth-straight-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/156962\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennis star breaks down in tears as he brutally loses FIFTH straight final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis star Lorenzo Musetti broke down in tears after losing his fifth consecutive final at the Chengdu Open on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian, who was the top seed when the tournament began, saw his hopes of winning in China dashed by 112th-ranked Chilean Alejandro Tabilo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Musetti was tearful after his fifth consecutive final defeat\" height=\"579\" width=\"960\" data-credit=\"\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Musetti.jpg\" data-caption=\"Musetti was tearful after his fifth consecutive final defeat\"   loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Musetti.jpg\" role=\"img\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<p>Musetti was tearful after his fifth consecutive final defeat<\/p>\n<p>To make matters worse, Musetti squandered two match points before slipping to defeat.<\/p>\n<p>In the final set, Musetti was 4-1 up in the tie break before Tabilo fought back to level at 4-4.<\/p>\n<p>But the Chilean powered through to win the match against an emotional Musetti.<\/p>\n<p>Following the defeat, the 23-year-old broke down in tears with his head buried into his towel.<\/p>\n<p>The statistics simply didn\u2019t add up. Musetti hit more winners than his opponent and had less unforced errors.<\/p>\n<p>It appeared that Musetti had overcome his recent difficulties which had seen him defeated by <a href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/tennis\/3544919\/carlos-alcaraz-girlfriend-brooks-nader-emma-raducanu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> in the semi-finals before picking up an injury that affected his form.<\/p>\n<p>But his obstacle in getting over the line was laid bare once again having lost his previous four finals.<\/p>\n<p>Tabilo\u2019s 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(5) victory was enough for the Chilean to claim a third ATP tour title and his first of the season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was an amazing match,&#8221; said Tabilo<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just had to stay there mentally and physically. I was so happy to make those first serves on match points. It was an incredible effort from the team also.
