New-ball star Jack White has hailed George Hill\u2019s \u201cincredible year\u201d as his fellow seamer closes in on the 50-wicket mark in the Rothesay County Championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n

White and Hill claimed two wickets apiece on day one of the final-round clash with Durham at Headingley today, one which saw the visitors close on 322-7 having elected to bat.<\/p>\n

David Bedingham top-scored with a patient 93 and Ben Raine contributed a more aggressive 87 not out. Both posted contrasting season\u2019s best scores to fashion a recovery from 7-2.<\/p>\n

Hill has taken 47 wickets, while White isn\u2019t far behind on 39 following an impressive first campaign with the county following his winter move from Northamptonshire.<\/p>\n

White said: \u201cI really enjoy bowling in this attack. George Hill\u2019s had an incredible year. I think he\u2019s closing in on 50 for the season. Hopefully he can get that tomorrow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThese guys are so skilful, and I\u2019ve learnt a lot from them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to improve and get better, and I think I\u2019ve done ok this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Understated White also reflected on a day one which swung this way and that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe bowled really well, contained really well and everyone went at under threes for most of the day,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, we let it go a bit at the end there, but we\u2019ll come back in the morning and try and finish it off.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOther players are allowed to play well \u2013 Raine played really well \u2013 so we just have to look at what we can do in the morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere wasn\u2019t too much in the pitch with the second new ball. It\u2019s a hybrid, so it\u2019s not doing loads. But we\u2019ve just got to keep going and work hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
