Collin Morikawa has called on the New York crowds to cause \u2018absolute chaos\u2019 at the Ryder Cup<\/a> \u2013 and wants to see one of his US team-mates throwing fist-pumps in European faces when play gets underway on Friday.<\/p>\n

The long build up to this showdown has felt conspicuously flat in the early part of the week at Bethpage Black, but Morikawa believes a storm is brewing from \u2018tame\u2019 beginnings.<\/p>\n

Normally one of the less spiky talkers on tour, the two-time major winner has shifted towards incitement. Speaking on Wednesday, he said: \u2018At Whistling Straits (in 2021) there was still a little bit of COVID so we had a crowd but it wasn’t as big as what they say it’s going to be here.<\/p>\n

\u2018I’ll be honest, I think it’s kind of tame so far, Tuesday and Wednesday. I hope Friday is just absolute chaos. I’m all for it. I think it feeds into who we are and the American players and the American Team. We want it. Like we want to use that to our advantage.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think every sport uses their home crowd to their advantage, and just because we don’t play in a setting like this doesn’t mean the craziness of New York and the rest of the country that people are traveling in from, it doesn’t mean that we can’t use that to our advantage.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Team USA star believes it has been a ‘tame’ start to the week at Bethpage Black<\/p>\n

Citing the hearts-and-minds mission of Luke Donald\u2019s team, who have been signing autographs in a deliberate effort to soften local feelings, Morikawa added: \u2018I think we really have to tap into that. I hope they come strong. Watching all these kids, I know they want autographs, but come Friday, I hope they go crazy.\u2019<\/p>\n

Morikawa also attempted to stir his sedate team-mate Cameron Young into a rabble-rouser. He said: \u2018I would love to see Cam Young just throw a massive fist pump in someone’s face. I would love it.<\/p>\n

\u2018I mean, it\u2019s his home state, home crowd, red, white and blue, played on the Junior Ryder Cup. He’s a fiery competitor. I’ve known Cam for a long time. He’s been very stoic, right. We’re deep competitors. Whether you see that or not through the TV or through watching us play, he wants to whoop some butt.<\/p>\n
