{"id":159694,"date":"2025-09-25T14:39:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T14:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/159694\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T14:39:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T14:39:14","slug":"gilles-peterson-ezra-collective-and-fontaines-d-c-lead-aim-awards-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/159694\/","title":{"rendered":"Gilles Peterson, Ezra Collective and Fontaines D.C. lead AIM Awards winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gilles Peterson, <a href=\"http:\/\/rollingstone.co.uk\/tag\/ezra-collective\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ezra Collective <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/rollingstone.co.uk\/tag\/fontaines-dc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fontaines D.C.<\/a> were among the big winners at the The\u00a0Association of Independent Music\u00a0(AIM) Awards 2025 last night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Legendary broadcaster Gilles picked up the Outstanding Contribution to Music award to honour a trailblazing career which dates back over four decades.<\/p>\n<p>                Read next<\/p>\n<p>Ezra Collective,\u00a0who had three nominations on the night, also took home Best Independent Track  for \u2018God Gave Me Feet For Dancing\u2019, which features Yazmin Lacey.<\/p>\n<p>There was also an Innovator Award win for avant-garde icon Cosey Fanni Tutti, while Bon Iver and Jagjaguwar\u00a0won\u2018Best Creative Campaign\u2019 for the imaginative roll-out of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.co.uk\/music\/album-reviews\/bon-iver-sable-fable-review-a-distinct-sense-of-endings-49390\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SABLE, fABLE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cosey Fanni Tutti commented:\u00a0\u201cEverything I\u2019ve done has been totally independent.\u00a0This is really special because innovation and independence really are sisters with me.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen innovation as a lifeblood of the music world \u2013 without that there would be no inspiration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And when it came to Best Independent Album (in association with Spotify), that gong went to Fontaines D.C.\u00a0for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.co.uk\/music\/fontaines-d-c-romance-review-generational-greats-come-of-age-42437\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Romance<\/a>, released via XL Recordings.<\/p>\n<p>AIM CEO Gee Davy said:\u00a0\u201cTonight\u2019s 15th anniversary edition of The Independent Music Awards has been an unforgettable celebration of the creative freedom, resilience, and innovative spirit that has always defined the independent music community.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis fearless innovation is seen in everything from Cosey Fanni Tutti\u2019s pioneering art and enterprise, Fontaines D.C.\u2019s uncompromising music, Ezra Collective\u2019s unfolding excellence, XL Recordings\u2019 unwavering support for artists, ESEA\u2019s inspiring advocacy, Karen Emanuel\u2019s ethical and inclusive entrepreneurship, Gilles Peterson\u2019s boundary-pushing passion, and the unending dedication to platforming talent of Wax &amp; Beans and Bandcamp.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe night highlighted the breadth of talent across the sector, and the passion that keeps it thriving.
