Robert Aramayo has visited Hull<\/a> ahead of the UK release of his brand-new film I Swear. The actor, who audiences will know from Game of Thrones and Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power<\/a>, was at a special preview screening and Q&A on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n The 32-year-old actor plays the lead role in the powerful comedy-drama about Tourette’s<\/a> activist John Davidson MBE. He visited Odeon Luxe in Hull with his family and also made an appearance at Vue in Princes Quay.<\/p>\n Ahead of the event, Mr Aramayo said: “I\u2019m really excited to be screening I Swear in my hometown and even more so to be here in person for it. It feels especially meaningful because I used to come to this cinema as a kid.<\/p>\n “Portraying John Davidson was the biggest challenge of my life, but also a tremendous honour. Kirk gave me a lot of freedom in shaping the role, and John worked closely with me throughout the process to help bring his story to life.<\/p>\n “My dream for the film is that it sparks more conversations around Tourette\u2019s and other neurodivergent conditions. And of course, I also hope audiences find it moving and entertaining.”<\/p>\n Written and directed by Kirk Jones, I Swear charts the journey of John as a misunderstood and isolated teenager in 1980s Scotland to an advocate for Tourette’s Syndrome. Mr Aramayo stars alongside Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson and Peter Mullan.<\/p>\n The filmed received its World Premiere in Toronto. It currently holds a 100 per cent Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n Mr Aramayo’s acting career began age seven when he played the star role of Bugsy Malone at Cavendish Primary School. He later joined Hull Truck Youth Theatre<\/a> and attended Wyke College.<\/p>\n Aged of 18, he won a place at the world-famous Juilliard School in New York City, beating other 4,000 hopefuls, as the Hull Daily Mail reported at the time. He also had the distinction of being the only Brit among the American future stars.<\/p>\n I Swear is set to be released on Friday, October 10.
