The career of well-travelled gelding Flash Aah<\/a> is set to come to an end after Saturday\u2019s Toowoomba Cup and his local trainer Troy Pascoe<\/a> is hoping he can bow out in style.<\/p>\n

The 10-year-old had been through seven different stables before landing with Pascoe at the end of 2023, racing everywhere from Victoria all the way up to far north Queensland.<\/p>\n

But Saturday\u2019s $125,000 Toowoomba Cup (2000m)<\/a> will be his final start and Pascoe is confident Flash Aah will give his all.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be his last start,\u201d Pascoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing wrong with him but we just want to make sure he goes out in good health.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the plan was to retire him after Saturday so hopefully it\u2019s a Rocky Balboa story for him, or something like that.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been a great horse over the years that always tried his guts out and I\u2019d imagine he\u2019ll do the same on Saturday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pascoe and Flash Aah will take on the likes of Chris Waller, Tony Gollan and Michael Freedman on Saturday but it\u2019s not something the local trainer is scared of.<\/p>\n

The pair faced a similar scenario earlier in the year when the son of Lucas Cranach saluted in the Ipswich Cup at $31.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re up against the big guns here but we were up against them at Ipswich too and it worked out well for us,\u201d Pascoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWinning that race was great but it\u2019s a big thrill to have a runner in the Cup at my home track.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t keep him going just to have a runner in it but it\u2019s just the way it\u2019s all worked out.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s likely that bookies will again install Flash Aah as a rough chance to win following his last two starts but Pascoe admits there were excuses out of those efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he just jarred up a touch at Eagle Farm and then coming back to Doomben, it wasn\u2019t ideal coming back to a mile,\u201d Pascoe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had him in a 2000m race the week prior to that but I just wasn\u2019t happy with him, so I gave him an extra week to recover from it, and he pulled up well from the mile race.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was looking for the 2000m then, so he certainly is now so he\u2019s in a good spot.\u201d<\/p>\n
