After two months, Apple came back and asked us to scrap everything,\u201d he said, adding: \u201cWe of course fully get companies want to defend their profits at all costs, but that\u2019s not what the DMA is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. president Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/eu-resists-trump-tech-regulation-is-our-sovereign-right\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has stated<\/a> he will slap tariffs on countries with digital rules he deemed to be discriminatory to American companies.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration and some of its tech allies have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/07\/22\/state-department-attacks-europe-free-speech-00468916\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">repeatedly attacked\u00a0<\/a>the EU\u2019s Digital Services Act (DSA), a sister law to the DMA which regulates social media platforms,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/us-congress-eu-digital-services-act-foreign-censorship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">accusing the bloc of censorship<\/a>\u00a0and claiming the law would impose costs on U.S. companies.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Apple referred POLITICO to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2025\/09\/the-digital-markets-acts-impacts-on-eu-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">statement <\/a>published on Wednesday, which said that the company wants \u201cour users in Europe to enjoy the same innovations at the same time as everyone else, and we\u2019re fighting to make that possible \u2014 even when the DMA slows us down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DMA means the list of delayed features in the EU will probably get longer.
