Detectives have launched an investigation after a man approached a schoolgirl and reportedly asked her to get in his van.<\/p>\n
The teenager was approached by a ‘man in a van’ in Jiggins Lane, near The Cock pub in Bartley Green<\/a>, shortly after the school bell rang on Wednesday, September 24.<\/p>\n Officers were supporting the pupil after she was said to have been “shaken” by the ordeal.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Birmingham detectives answer burning question over schoolboy abduction attempt<\/a><\/p>\n Parents of children at Bartley Green School said they were sent text messages yesterday alerting them to the incident.<\/p>\n The message from the Adams Hill school, shared online and seen by BirminghamLive, said: “We have been made aware of an incident which happened last night outside The Cock pub.<\/p>\n “A pupil was approached by a person driving a white van and asked to get into the van.<\/p>\n “The pupil is shaken, but OK. This incident has been reported to the police.<\/p>\n “We will be speaking to pupils about their personal safety when in the community.”<\/p>\n We have reached out to the school for comment and have asked West Midlands Police<\/a> if this incident was possibly linked to a similar case in Church View<\/a>, Sparkbrook, over the weekend.<\/p>\n That incident saw a man in a van attempt to snatch a nine-year-old boy<\/a> from the street, near Walford Road. Luckily the youngster managed to escape.<\/p>\n
