People queued for hours early on Friday morning to be among the first to get their hands on the new iPhone, iPhone 17, but one man’s enthusiasm took him a step further.<\/p>\n

Self-confessed “Apple-fan boy”, Victor Leon Wolf paid the money to the man who was first in line, and who had been camped outside the shop since 3am.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to pay a guy to give me his place. I just want to be the first,” the Spanish 24-year-old said, adding that he bought the latest iPhone every year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Victor arrived at the iCentre in Mrie\u0127el on Friday morning at around 8 am, by which time, a long queue of people eagerly waiting to get their hands on the new iPhone 17 had already formed in front of the shop.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Apple released a new lineup on September 17, which included the iPhone 17, the new iPhone Air, as well as new Apple Watch and AirPods models. Similar to Malta, customers across the globe waited for hours, even overnight, to get their hands on the new iPhone.<\/p>\n

The price of the new phone on the iCentre website ranges from \u20ac1,399 for the iPhone 17 Pro with 256 gigabytes of storage, to an eye-watering \u20ac2,599 for the iPhone Pro Max with two terabytes of storage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just an Apple fanboy. I think it\u2019s the best tech company on earth,\u201d said Victor, who also purchased the new AirPods Pro 3, costing \u20ac279.<\/p>\n

Asked for his reaction to people who found the idea of queueing for a new phone to be strange, the man said there was nothing wrong with it if people found it fun.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, I like to sleep at night,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Victor said he was most looking forward to the vapour chamber cooling feature, a thermal management system that uses a thin, sealed chamber of deionized water to absorb and dissipate heat from the main components. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Several other people waiting in line said they were looking forward to the extended battery life. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The new Apple products were also launched at KLIKK in \u017bejtun at midnight on Friday, at an event held in collaboration with Ian Busuttil Naudi from popular TV show Gadgets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Several people also queued up outside the outlet well before it opened for the special event.<\/p>\n
