Jimmy Thelin stood right in the eye of the Aberdeen<\/a> fan fury and admitted he had to do it as a way of an apology.<\/p>\n

The Swede and his players took pelters as they went to acknowledge the Red Army following their 2-0 defeat at Dundee United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was a result that leaves Aberdeen bottom of the table without a league win or goal and has ramped up the pressure on everybody at Pittodrie.<\/p>\n

Thelin<\/a> said: \u201cI think you can’t always apologise for your performance, but sometimes you also feel you have to.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m the manager, I’m responsible for everything in these games we have played.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen of course the players have the responsibility to get what we want to do together, acting as a good team on the pitch and in training, everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut sometimes you just say, hands up, it was not good enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo sometimes you have to say to the supporters, okay, we take it, we know.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s just a reminder of how much they care about the club.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Swede understands why the Aberdeen support is hurting. Thelin and his dressing room are exactly the same and remain united in wanting to get their season up and running.<\/p>\n

He admitted: \u201cI’m not from here, I’m from Sweden, and when I arrive here and I feel the passion and the mood of the city, how much the result for the football club means for everyone, it is a big responsibility for everyone involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut also, that’s why I say we need everyone in difficult times to get out of difficult situations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe more we are aligned, the more we can push together, but the minimum thing we can show them is our effort, and what I’m talking about is 15%.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have some good moments, we have some shots in the post or in the bar, we have been close, we don’t get so many chances against them, but we’re still losing. And for me, this is the last part we have to fix.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen the fans will see that they do everything they can to get the result and turn it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I think everybody is going to support and push the team out in the right direction, but we have to start from us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thelin said his team hit rock-bottom at Tannadice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He and his players also know when they turn things around that they will get the Red Army back on side. He is quite happy to take the flak if it allows his players to focus on winning games.<\/p>\n

The Scottish Cup-winning boss, who takes his team to Motherwell, explained: \u201cFor example, if you do a really maximum effort, you give everything you have, and you still lose a game, then I also think the fans will give us a different reaction, because we tried our best.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not saying the players didn’t try their best, but sometimes when you get in this moment, you can forget about the basics in football.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get too blocked about the pressure, so you start overthinking things, you make it more complex what football actually is and that’s why the pressure should be on me, so the players can focus on the things.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat’s why I told them, I’m responsible for this team, but you have to do your thing, everything you can now, without hesitating, don’t doubt yourself.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are really good players, but you need each other and then we’re going to show our fans this in the next game and make a really good effort and a good collective team performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that’s why, of course, if you do everything perfect and you get the same reaction, then it’s strange.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut sometimes you have to look at yourself, oh, we have to do better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kristers Tobers played for the Aberdeen under-21s at Forfar and is getting closer to a top team return.<\/p>\n

The late cameo from Kenan Bilalovic was one of the few positive takes from Tannadice.<\/p>\n

Thelin stated: \u201cI think he has shown progress on the pitch since he arrived, how he competes in the training session.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you’re making this progress in the training and you answer on the things we want to improve, then you also deserve your chance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have to deserve the chances, because otherwise you can’t grow as a person.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has been making more of an impact in training.<\/p>\n
